formamide |
formaldehyde |
In organic compound terms the difference between formamide and formaldehyde
is that
formamide is the amide of formic acid HCO-NH
2 or any N-substituted derivative; they are used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals while
formaldehyde is the simplest aldehyde, H-CHO, a colourless gas that has many industrial applications; it dissolves in water to give formalin.
