In organic compound terms the difference between tetrachloromethane and tetrachloroethane
is that tetrachloromethane is carbon tetrachloride while tetrachloroethane is either of two isomeric chemical compounds: 1,1,1,2-Tetrachloroethane (used as a solvent and in varnishes) and 1,1,2,2-Tetrachloroethane (used as a solvent and refrigerant).
