    Late 1980s Taiwan Pseudo-English initialism for "karaoke television" modelled after the earlier MTV "movie television", which were places people would pay to watch movies on VCR or lazerdisk in private booths. This term is chiefly used in China, Taiwan and Cambodia and by people of Chinese or Taiwanese descent.
