Acetylcholine vs Butyrylcholine - What's the difference?
acetylcholine | butyrylcholine |
(neurotransmitter) A neurotransmitter in humans and other animals. It is an ester of acetic acid and choline with chemical formula CH3CO]]ON+([[methyl, CH3)3.
A synthetic acetylcholine-like molecule, with activation of some of the same receptors, which is hydrolysed by acetylcholinesterase and (more efficiently) by butyrylcholinesterase.
